"Herman Hollerith was born on February 29, 1860, in Buffalo, New York, and died on November 17, 1929, in Washington, DC. He was the inventor of the first patented mechanized punched-card system, the technological foundation for the computing industry. Herman Hollerith was born to German immigrant parents. In 1911 he acquired property in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, where he built a mansion."
