    Description

The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 during the Cold War and separated East and West Berlin. The Cold War was the name given to the relationship between the USSR and USA after the end of WW2. The Berlin Wall came to show the different ideologies between the different systems of governments, how they worked and what the people thought about them.

It symbolized the difference between the western democrats and the eastern communists and the way they thought Germany should be lead. It also symbolized the inner conflict of Germany and the division between ‘free’ or democratic. Once a symbol of division, today it stands for victory.

The Berlin Wall has been a prominent icon throughout our world’s history and as such its pieces hold a special place at #MiamiIronside and reflect the core values of our community: freedom, unity and strength.
