    Description

He miraculously recovered from his wound and returned to his adopted hometown of Washington, DC, where he became a prosperous tavern-keeper in the Mount Vernon Square neighborhood. 1003 Seventh Street NW, the site of Mathew Ruppert's saloon and restaurant, is now a park."
